Ryan's Inetrobil on the Cherry Hinton trail

Malton-based trainer Kevin Ryan is looking forward to running his smart juvenile filly Inetrobil at Newmarket's July fixture on Friday in the Group 2 Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton Stakes and is hopeful she can go one pace better than when runner-up recently at Royal Ascot, writes Elliot Slater.

A six-length winner of a Redcar maiden contest on her debut at the Cleveland track in May, the daughter of Bertolini was asked to take a big step up in class when contesting the Group 3 Albany Stakes on only her second outing, but ran a tremendous race to finish a gallant second to Mick Channon's very speedy Samitar and vindicate her handler's opinion to take his chance in the showcase event.

Always prominent under Philip Makin, Inetrobil took up the running over a furlong from home but couldn't quite resist the late surge of the Channon-trained filly who went on to score by three quarters of a length. Those thinking about placing a Newmarket bet would have been impressed by Inetrobil's efforts. A sparkling home gallop on Saturday convinced Ryan and the filly's owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing that the two-year-old has recovered quickly enough from her Ascot exertions, and she is now an intended runner at HQ in a race that could have a significant bearing on the ante-post market for next year's 1000 Guineas.

As well as Inetrobil (currently a 33/1 chance for next year's first filly's classic), Peter Chapple-Hyam's exciting wide margin Pontefract winner My Propeller is also amongst the entries, along with a number of once raced winners who include Godolphin's pair of Discourse and Pimpernel, Sir Michael Stoute's Leicester winner Russelliana, and Jeremy Noseda's promising Regal Realm. Richard Fahey's unbeaten triple winner Miss Work Of Art, David Wachman's Group 3 winner Experience, together with Shumoos and Caledonia Lady, close second and third respectively in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at the royal meeting three weeks ago, are other possible runners in a potentially exciting clash between some of the top juvenile fillies.
