So You Think’s odds have shortened to near evens for those who place horse bets after one punter backed the Australian champion to the tune of £40,000 for the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown this weekend.

The Prince of Wales Stakes runner up was at around 5/4 and the favourite for the race before the mammoth bet, with 2010 Investec Derby winner and main horse betting rival Workforce out at around 7/4, but now the gap has widened between the pair ahead of the eagerly awaited showdown.

The group 1 1mf2 race will be contested by a small field of around eight horses, with Snow Fairy’s regular seasonal appearance still likely to go ahead.

"We initially made So You Think the 5-4 favourite ahead of Workforce, based on his superior ten-furlong form, and one London-based account punter n particular agreed with us, and his £40,000 wager saw the dual Cox Plate winner's odds shorten to evens." Coral’s David Stevens said.

However it won’t be a walk in the park for So You Think after Coolmore, the prestigious horse stud that reared So You Think, revealed that jockey Ryan Moore who had previously seated him would be unavailable due to an obligation to ride for Aiden O’Brien, trainer of Workforce.

With the battle between So You Think and Workforce and the possible presence of Snow Fairy, Stevens believes that although the field is small, the action on display should more than make up for that.

"It's not going to be a big field, but as long as we get the big two [Workforce and So You Think] and Snow Fairy it will be a sensational line-up.” He commented.

"Quality rather than quantity is the order of the day, but we're happy with that."
